Melvin attended the Athens day outreaches regularly.
He was a nice, humble, and mild mannered man who was fed and clothed
there. We loved him and enjoyed getting to know him. He was a broken
man, homeless, and had been battered by a life of alcoholism. But Melvin
had prayed to be saved at our meetings recently and freely talked about God
in our conversations.
About a week after we last saw him, he was found dead in the North
Oconee River. Melvin lived along the river bank. He died on April 28,
2010, at age 49.
We were told that a couple of days after this video was recorded, Melvin
was seen reading his Bible inside of his tent in Tent City. Both of his
eyes were completely well.
